10 weeks down!

I made it! I have officially lost 21 pounds in 10 weeks!  I start to think, wow, how low can I go? Because we can all do the math, 30 weeks left X 2 pounds = 60 pounds!  Where would I be if I lost 60 pounds from today? I'd be down to what I weighted when I first went to college which was (gasp) 20 years ago? I definitely thought I was heavy back then but I realize now how silly 18 - 22 year olds are! Or at the very least how I was very unrealistic about weight.  Can you hear the chickens crying because they have been counted too soon?

Gretchen and I were calculating poundage loss by babies' weights.  So if you have lost 21 pounds you have lost a Reese, if you have lost 26 pounds you've lost a Liam, 32 pounds you have lost a Joseph and (I think) 34 pounds you have lost a Claire! I'm down a Reese working on a Liam.  :)

I read somewhere that it takes 24 days to break a habit and then 41 days to create a new one.  Since we have been doing this bet for 70 days, it looks like we have definitely established some new healthier habits!  What new healthy habits have you incorporated into your everyday life that are helping you lose?

My goals: Reboot the 10 week exercise bet with 4x a week at least 20 minutes, working towards "from couch to 5k" and 2 pounds in 2 weeks.

  1. Ooops, the one healthier habit that I have definitely do consistently is make an egg casserole on Sunday night so that each week day I can start off my day with a hot protein breakfast.

The next HH I want to do consistently is to meal plan out dinners, Joe and I do this hit or miss. Some weeks we are really good and others we...um don't do well. Hmmm, maybe I should track those weeks we do well and how much I lose vs the sloppy weeks and weight loss...ok Math Geek you need to stop now!

  2. Well, I lost the bet this week. :( In fact, I gained a few back. Honestly, that was expected. I had my last exam of second year on Tuesday and now I'm done! No more classroom learning! woot! Anyways, I'm going to pay the $20 and start fresh today. 2 pounds in 2 weeks.

I have definitely learned some better habits during the bet though! Sonali and I are still going to the gym 5 or 6 times a week, and now that we're starting our regiment for board studying hopefully that will stay the same. When I'm actually on the diet, I definitely eat a lot less than I did. But when I let it go, I WAY overdo it...

Congratulations on 20 pounds Rachel! That has got to feel amazing! :)

  3. Hello everyone!

I made the bet this week by the skin of my teeth (gross phrase btw) and only because i'd managed to lose over target initially, so the test week rebound didn't do me in. ;p

I'm excited that Liz and I have a workout 'routine' worked out, though we're doing it separately for the next week and a half of Board Exam Boot Camp. I can't believe I'm getting *used* to waking up at 5AM.

My problem is the same as Liz's. Diet. I was doing OK with the Lean Cuisines which are all I have time for, but the boredom is setting in and I'm finding myself hungry all the time. Here's hoping I can keep it under control!

  4. make sure you are getting enough protein because sometimes the diet foods load up on the starch and then your body burns those off and sends hungry signals. (either that or go atkins! not ever really hungry unless I go for too long without eating {which is supposed to make you hungry!}) I know Elizabeth doesn't like atkins but me...I love it!
